Summer Specials
Panasonic AG-HVX200

$300.00 per day until August 31st
.
Call for details on your rental package.

The AG-HVX200 records HD, either 1080i or 720p video acquired by a new optical
system and high-performance digital signal processor onto a P2 card using
the broadcasting DVCPRO HD codec.

Variable frame rate recording is just one of the features that makes the
AG-HVX200 unique in its class. Using technologies that make the Panasonic VariCam camera-recorder a favorite in movie production, this powerful function allows the overcranking and undercranking techniques used with film cameras to create fast-motion and slow-motion effects.

The P2 card offers superior reliability, immediate playback and outstanding cost-performance. It allows direct connection to nonlinear editing systems and streamlines the production work flow, by providing to the editing system data files ready to be edited, rather than a video tape which would require the task of digitizing.

Using just an AG-HVX200 and a laptop computer (PC or Mac) you can
access each clip or transfer clips via USB2.0 (PC) or IEEE1394 (Mac)
without capturing process.

HDV Cams

$225.00 per day until August 31st.
(no further discounts)

The Canon XL H1 also features uncompressed HD-SDI (SMPTE 292M) and SD-SDI (SMPTE 259M) output, as well as Genlock input and SMPTE time code input/output for multi-camera shoots.

As the first HD camcorder to feature a 1/3" bayonet mount, the JVC-GY-HD100 camera is compatible with a wide selection of interchangeable HD lenses.

The Sony HVR-Z1U features three newly developed Super HAD 1/3" CCDs. These new 16:9 native CCDs, combined with a high quality 12X Optical Zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar® T* Lens and Sony's new 14 bit A/D and DXP Digital Extended Processor, result in precise image acquisition with superb detail and clarity.

Digital Recording and MPEG

Making a digital recording? Great!

Those of us who have been in the business for a while might reflect nostalgically on the days of analog , but it’s hard to dispute the overall technical superiority of all things digital.

Sony DSR-1500A
DV - DVCPRO Playback/Recorder

Given a choice between watching our favorite movie playback on VHS or DVD, who among us would not choose DVD ? Older flicks which have been “digitally remastered” and transferred to DVD have a luster to them which cannot be rivaled by the lowly analog VHS.

The process by which all of the video and audio gets crammed or “compressed” onto the disc is called “encoding.” Your DVD player in turn “decodes” the info. The “rules” for all of this encoding and decoding fall under the umbrella title of MPEG 2. There are other formats of MPEG.

For example,if you have an MP-3 player, that device is governed under the rules of MPEG 1. When the time comes for you to get either an HD DVD player or a BLU RAY DVD player, you will probably be operating in the MPEG 4 world. As far as media is concerned, MPEG encoding can be found in discs, videotapes, or even compact flash style cards.

T he type of media used in these different MPEG schemes can play a role in terms of quality, but it should not be considered as an absolute determinant. For example: some might think that compact flash is always better than videotape because cf is a newer technology. THAT IS NOT NECESSARILY TRUE ! There are several other factors to consider (Actual compression ratio, throughput in terms of mb/sec. etc.).

About Us

Faces Behind the Service
At Broadcast Rentals, superior service is only as good as the people who deliver it. To this end we are proud to feature team members from our Phoenix and San Diego offices.
Michael Stewart , San Diego office

Michael is originally from Thousand Oaks, California. Prior to joining Broadcast Rentals, Michael worked as a Manager of Audio-Visual Services at a Marriott property.

He also ran his own audio and video taping business for 8 years, taping corporate meetings and events for notable clients such as the League of California, Univ. of San Diego, Children's Hospital and the National Asphalt Association.
Michael saw the move to Broadcast Rentals as a step up in his professional career. ..."In addition to the high-end equipment, running the San Diego office is like running my own business again; a real entrepreneurial opportunity. I like being the manager, running and operating the business".

"There is never a dull moment. Most interesting is the wide variety of people who I meet in the day to day operations. The majority of our clients are in business for themselves, which I can relate to. Basically, I take my job very personally ...I have been in their shoes and know that the service and equipment that we deliver has to be right the first time."

"By serving the client in the best way possible, that insures that they come back again and again...and a trust factor develops".

Michael's favorite pastime (for the past 6 years) is coaching his daughter's soccer team. The team recently entered the competitive soccer league and in their first outing, came in 4th of 18 teams. Last December, the team came in 2nd in the Carlsbad “Lightning Holiday Classic”, under 12 division...yeah team! Married for 18 years, Michael has 3 daughters.
