This is the first high definition production camera that is capable of variable frame rate with just a quick menu change.

Individual frame rates may be selected from: 4-fps to 60-fps in single frame increments. Frame rates may be changed during recording.

Designed as a high quality production camera, this native 720p camcorder can be used for 60-fps or the film-like 24-fps acquisition.

When acquiring for 24-fps projects, higher than 24-fps operation can be processed for slow motion effects while slower than 24-fps operation can be processed to speed up motion.

The Panasonic AJ-HD1400 is a DVCPRO HD VTR in a cost-effective, lightweight package. Capable of recoding and playing back Panasonic VariCam and HDX900 broadcast level HD tapes, as well as both DVCPRO 50 and 25 formats, make it an indispensable asset for a wide range of professional applications and work flows.

The AJ-HD1400 can perform both HD/SD up-down conversion, as well as 720/1080 cross conversion, providing users with the added flexibility necessary for broadcast recording and delivery. From field acquisition to nonlinear editing, this VTR provides a compact all-in-one solution.

This compact, multi-format video switcher provides high definition or standard definition switching for live and recorded events.

It features six inputs (five HD/SDI or SDI and one DVI/RGB) and three outputs (HD/SDI or SDI), RS-422 control, Ethernet connectivity and a built-in 10-bit, 6-channel frame synchronizer that adjusts automatically (external Gen Lock synchronization is also available). The switcher includes nine wipe patterns and three directional wipes.

Earl responsibilities include equipment check in and quality control, insuring that any problems with equipment are taken care of…i.e., missing items, damaged parts, etc. He is also involved with the editing services side of the business, offering technical and creative expertise to clients.

"I have already paid my dues with Broadcast Rentals. As an example,
I was on call at 11 pm on a Friday. The client had a problem with a teleprompter and I delivered and set-up a replacement by 7 am on Saturday morning. That is what service is all about. I think it is just a matter of listening to the customer, working with them and using the incredible knowledge base here at Broadcast Rentals, and offering a helping hand whenever they need it".

Earl's favorite film: "Day the Earth Stood Still" ...because I thought the movie delivered a neat message: People on this planet need to get their act together or else!

Favorite hobbies: Fishing and boating.

Earl is married (for 30 years), has one son, two horses and a dog.

Believe it or not, I made a mistake!

When we invested in the Panasonic VariCam, we were not entirely sure that clients would be as interested in this camera as they are in the Sony CineAlta cameras...but, you are! The VariCam has proven extremely popular .
